Auditions for The Music Man are Wednesday September 3, 2008 4-6 pm at the Village Theatre in Danville.
Rehearsals and Performances:
Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays 4-6 at the Village Theatre during September, October and November 2008. There will be a handful of rehearsals on Thursdays.
Performances are November 13 (daytime school shows), Nov. 14, 15, 21, 22 2008.
Please, only audition if you can perform on these dates!
Who can Audition?
All parts are open, casting by audition only. If you want a lead role, your best bet is to prepare a song from The Music Man sung by the character you want to play. We take auditions seriously, we encourage aspiring performers to do the same. The Danville Children's Musical Theater accepts performers ages 10-16. You must turn ten before you audition and you must be available for all performances and rehearsals. Participant Fee: $350 (goes to sets, facilities, technical and musical support, licensing, and costuming DCMT is a non-profit organization) No pre-registration.
What happens at the Audition?
At the audition, you will be put into pairs and given lines from the script which you will perform in front of the other people auditioning, the director, musical director and choreographer. When your number is called, you will go on stage and state your name and age. Then you will read from the script, showcasing your best acting talents. Last, you will take turns singing a song of your choice without accompaniment. Children auditioning in the past have prepared anything and everything from 'Happy Birthday' to 'Supercalifragilistic.' We encourage preparation of songs from the musical we will be performing.You will be informed of the casting decisions within a few days. The cast list will be posted on this website as well as on the door of the theater. Please do not audition if you must miss rehearsals or are not available for the performances. All cast members are expected at every performance. Parents are not allowed at auditions.
